What methods did you use for securing the probes to the stove and stove pipe. Pics would be great but not necessary, just a simple explanation of your set up would be helpful.
Image.jpg I have a Harmon Mark I coal stove. This is my 3rd season operating, after running a wood stove. I finally got a Dwyer Mark II manometer hooked up. The manual recommends a draft no higher than .06. I can keep it under .06, but only when my barometric damper is wide open. I tend to keep my draft knob open two spins, but I am still losing my fires. The temps are hanging in the mid to upper 40's, but still reaching 50-60 degree days. I'm not sure what I am doing or how to make improvem…
Hi I am new to this site and just wanted to say wonderful in tell from this site . I was at the bloomsburg fair and was looking to heat 2600 square feet with a hot air coal furnace . The dealer had readings, Harman, leisure and key-stoker there. I was interested in the readings for the amount of money i could spend but then the dealer said he had a new model key-stoker that would fit the budget what i was looking for. I purchased the key-stoker koker 105 thou.sand btus. Wow the heat and the c…
Just like everyone at sometime or the other I'm new to this coal burning. I'm having trouble keeping my stove burning throughout the night. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong that makes it burn out pretty quickly.
I'm actually just getting ready for bed now. I put some coal on it, I would say I'm up to 6" deep of glowing red coal, I will wake up at 2 a.m. and its barely burning. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch of hard coal or maybe I'm burning it to hot. I'm not sure but I have…
Awful news all over the TV & radios, yet, we must go forward. Coffee is perking, I'm not sure what's for breakfast. It's that time of year that the hens aren't laying many eggs and the store bought ones just aren't the same. To make matters worse we even had a couple of bad eggs. Not rotten, but when you put a fork full in your mouth, it just comes back out. Yucccck.
Maybe today I will get to go check out that AA. I never got hold of him last Saturday. I left a message, but he must …
Read the info and disclaimers that came with your UL listed co detector. They do not sound until levels are much greater than seems reasonable. Check out this link to a unit that sounds at low levels. http://www.coexperts.com/One.pdf
I've been "advocating" (arguing is more accurate) against wood for that long. Our recent switch in homeowner insurance was the catalyst that caused our recent return to coal. They won't insure us if we use wood in our Hitzer model 82 as it's only rated for coal. Win-win, I say.
No more chain saw. No more spitting. No more 4 hour stokings. No more wood smoked back yard. Warm feet in the morning.
I have a coal stove that does my main floor and just installed a pellet stove in the basement. There really isn't a low setting. Can I put a rheostat on the feed rate? The pellet stove has a timer just like my Alasak stove. The lowest setting still has a pretty high flame and is buring through pellets faster than I would like.
Today i was oiling my AA130 and the gear box that turns the blower needed some 30W so i added to the fill to bring the level up in the glass window , all was good put had some oil run out of the shaft on bought sides ,should there be seals to stop this ?i guess i could have over filled the gear box and that is what leaked out ,everything seams to be running fine just serprized it leaked ? :?:
For sale tried this on my Keystoker K4 as an additional combustion blower during idle time but it is too many CFM, located in Mount Carmel Pa 17851 asking $60 (would rather local pickup) PM me here will return message Thanks Dave
Does this stove need fire bricks? When I bought the stove they were not in there so I really did not think about it. Before I fire this bad boy up I want to make sure I am safe and efficient. And if I do need them where can I get them?
I am just starting my research in building my own boiler to heat my house. I love having options and the ability to heat my house with wood and coal has its appeal, but I am not sold on firewood. I got plenty of trees, its the process of cutting and splitting that really gets me. I love the thought of burning chips, but have been told it takes a special boiler to get enough fire to do so.
It seems that burning bituminous coal kind of needs the same thing with secondary, preheated air.
